Highland Spring HIHO 2012, Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Imagine a week of inter-island sailing, SUPing & windsurfing with great parties and a captain yacht which you call home. Highland Spring HIHO is unique, fun, sometimes a little crazy. The event concept is simple- participants move aboard a yacht on Sunday, July 1 in Road Town, on Tortola. The fleet departs that afternoon for Virgin Gorda. Each morning during the week there is an SUP or windsurfing race. The yachts follow with the non-racing participants. Lunch is always on the beach and dinner is at a resort.     A new addition to this year’s paddling events, The “Hog Island Huff” offers an unparalleled SUP experience. A water start off of Miller Park, on the Eastern shore of the Tomales Bay, this race will be fast and furious. Racers will be cruising through the channels and sand bars, around the star fish studded rocky points of Hog and Duck Islands and back to the shores of Miller Park – approximately 5 miles. Registration begins at 8:00 am and the race starts at 9:00 am. There are prize packages for the winners, courtesy of Demo Sport in San Rafael. $10 registration fee includes free parking. This event is spectator friendly, and there will be paddle boards available to rent. Meet at Miller Park (Next to Nick’s Cove, 3.5 miles North of the Town of Marshall).
