18th Annual Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge, Mission Beach, San Diego, Calif.: The unofficial start to the winter racing season and the SoCal Winter Racing Series kicks off with the Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge, one of the biggest events of the year in Southern California, with paddlers of all ages, skills and crafts welcome. A Huki OC-1 and other great prizes will be up for grabs in the raffle and the event will offer complimentary VitaCoco, Sambazon, Gatorade, and water on-site. Event Page

The Painkiller Cup, Road Town, Tortola, BVI: Sponsored by the world-famous Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke, the event will see 3-person teams, which must include at least one woman, racing a 14-mile downwind course along Tortola’s north shore. 10th Annual Kona Surf Film Festival, Big Island, Hawaii: Since 2003, the Kona Surf Film Festival (KSFF) has been an exhibition of surf films from around the world, a benefactor of the Big Island Community and beyond, and a grassroots event that has kept the surf cinema stoke alive. 11th Annual Cold Hands Paddle, Cabrillo Beach, San Pedro, Calif.: The 11th Annual Cold Hands Paddle is a 4-mile course at the historic Port of Los Angeles, Cabrillo Beach and is free to the public. The event includes divisions for paddleboards and SUP’s, but dory boats, surf ski’s, kayaks, and OC’s are welcome to participate as well. The Great Swan River Paddle, Perth, West Aus., AUS: Participants will paddle approximately 2.8km east from Point Belches (small point on the south side of the river, about 250 metres east of The Narrows) to the tip of Heirisson Island and return to Point Belches for a 5.7km race. Surftech Shootout at The Lane, Steamer Lane, Santa Cruz, Calif.: The annual event is back with a new addition to the two days of racing, the Cowells SUP Classic paddle surf contest. The event will feature the highly anticipated Shootout, with some of the best paddlers in the world competing for thousands of dollars in prizes. Other races at the event include the 2.7-mile short course race, which finishes with a beach sprint, as well as the long distance race, which takes the paddlers on the same course as the short course with the addition of 3.7 miles after the beach sprint.     Can you post this event? Come on out and participate in the 1st annual Hawaiian Lei Sup Relay race is to benefit a Long Beach animal rescue group. The event will be held Sunday, May 20th, 2012 on the Peninsula, between Dana and 56th Place on the bay side in Long Beach, CA. The event is a relay race where teams paddle 100-150 yards on Aloha Sup boards around a buoy with a lei around their neck paddling back to their teammates, they pass the lei onto their teammate and off they go, until the last person on their team crosses the finish line. T-shirts will be provided to registered racers and the winners will get flower leis from Hawaii and take home the Hawaiian Lei Tiki Cup for the year. The winning team will get a cash prize of $100. Bottled water and snacks will be provided. Come and join in for a good cause, help our 4-legged friends and have fun on the water!

    May 20th, The Hawaiian Lei Sup (Stand Up Paddling) Relay race is to benefit a Long Beach, CA animal rescue group. Too many healthy dogs are put down because of overcrowding and rescue groups need our support to help save these dogs. The event will be held on the Peninsula, between Dana and 56th Place on the bay side. The event is a relay race where teams paddle 100-150 yards on Aloha Sup boards around a buoy with a lei around their neck paddling back to their teammates, they pass the lei onto their teammate and off they go, until the last person on their team crosses the finish line. This is a beginners race, a fun family race. T-shirts will be provided to registered racers. Sponsors can also get event T-Shirts. The winners of the sup relay race will get flower leis from Hawaii and take home the Hawaiian Lei Tiki Cup for the year. Bottled water and snacks will be provided. Great raffle prizes and silent auction. Come and join in for a good cause, help our 4-legged friends and have fun on the water!
    If you would like to register your own group, sign up each member and pick the best board from our list. Don’t worry if you are not part of a group, we will put you on a team. Sup boards are provided. Entry fee is $35 and you can register and pay online.

    The TC Waterman Challenge and Expo is the Midwest’s largest and premier Stand Up Paddle (SUP) event. This SUP festival and Midwest’s largest SUP exposition include recreational and elite races for all ages and skill levels, free product demonstrations, free clinics, free kids races, and the Awards Luau Dinner, presented by Maui Jim, for all participants. This World Paddle Association- (WPA) sanctioned event is the site of the 2012 Great Lakes Regional Championship!

    The main events, staged on the shores of beautiful Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City, Michigan, include a recreational, all-ages, all-skill levels, 3.5 mile course race located close offshore for spectators and on-lookers to view. The TC Waterman also boasts a distance race. The 10 Mile “Down-Winder” is open to the public and elite racers alike. Let’s not forget the little ones who can enter free into the Kid’s Races and SUP Relays. The day’s events will conclude with the Awards Luau Dinner–presented by Maui Jim–served inside our main event tent, complete with a Hawaiian pig roast and Polynesian dancers. All competitive events are open to the public though registration is required.
