Coldstroke Classic, Wrightsville Beach, N.C.- The 5th annual event will offer a 3.5-mile recreational course and a 7-mile elite course, with a cash purse of $1,250 for the top elite finishers. Dana Ocean Challenge, Dana Point, Calif.- SoCal Ocean Racing’s Dana Ocean Challenge is another great event for new racers and paddlers. Both courses begin and finish in the protected harbor with open ocean racing making up most of the long course. 10th Annual Cold Hands Paddle, Cabrillo Beach, San Pedro, Calif.- A free race in LA. The event includes a 4-mile course with divisions for paddleboards and SUP’s, but dory boats, surf ski’s, kayaks, and OC’s are welcome to participate as well. The event will feature the highly anticipated Shootout, with some of the best paddlers in the world competing for over $2000 in prizes. Other races at the event include the 2.7-mile short course race, which finishes with a beach sprint, as well as the long distance race, which takes the paddlers on the same course as the short course with the addition of 3.7 miles after the beach sprint. This World Paddle Association- (WPA) sanctioned event is the site of the 2012 Great Lakes Regional Championship!

    The main events, staged on the shores of beautiful Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City, Michigan, include a recreational, all-ages, all-skill levels, 3.5 mile course race located close offshore for spectators and on-lookers to view. The TC Waterman also boasts a distance race. The 10 Mile “Down-Winder” is open to the public and elite racers alike. Let’s not forget the little ones who can enter free into the Kid’s Races and SUP Relays. The day’s events will conclude with the Awards Luau Dinner–presented by Maui Jim–served inside our main event tent, complete with a Hawaiian pig roast and Polynesian dancers. All competitive events are open to the public though registration is required.
