Orange Bowl Paddle Championships, Miami, Fla.: The Orange Bowl Paddle Championship will feature nearly 250 racers and thousands of spectators, local celebrities and paddle professionals. Neptunalia Challenge, Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.: Choose your chariot, then your challenge! Race either SUP, prone paddle board, OC, kayak and surf ski, then choose between three races: the 10-mile Kraken, 6-mile Tortoise Island, or 3-mile Manatee race. This is primarily a flat water race with potential for a downwind leg on the Banana River. Event Page

The Painkiller Cup, Road Town, Tortola, BVI: Sponsored by the world-famous Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke, the event will see 3-person teams, which must include at least one woman, racing a 14-mile downwind course along Tortola’s north shore. Return to Pier Race, Santa Barbara, Calif.: Part of the SoCal Ocean Racing Series, the annual race features long course and short course events for multiple paddle crafts. Compete in the Return to Pier Race or the entire SoCal Ocean Racing Series, which runs until the end of March. Event Page

6th Annual Cold Stroke Classic, Wrightsville Beach, N.C.: The Classic features a 7-mile elite competition, a 3.5-mile recreational race, and a 14 & under kids’ division. January 17 – 18, 2015
HIHO Adventure Race, British Virgin Islands: Race throughout the BVI, paddling to a different island each day and partying in-between races. The event offers an Open class (paddlers can race any board 14′ or under) with 3- to 5-mile races, as well as the Fanatic One-Design class (paddlers race on 12′ Fanatic Ray), with 1- to 3-mile races. The Rum Run, 7-Mile Beach, Grand Cayman Island: Race in the beautiful waters of the Cayman Islands over two days, in either short-course sprints or a long distance race. Demos will be available, as well as an SUP yoga class. RumRun.ky

18th Annual Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge, Mission Beach, San Diego, Calif.: The unofficial start to the winter racing season and the SoCal Winter Racing Series kicks off with the Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge, one of the biggest events of the year in Southern California, with paddlers of all ages, skills and crafts welcome. A Huki OC-1 and other great prizes will be up for grabs in the raffle and the event will offer complimentary VitaCoco, Sambazon, Gatorade, and water on-site. Event Page

Wild Descent, Clutha River, Wanaka, New Zealand: A four-day race with the new addition of a SUP division for 2015. Typically a kayak race, Wild Descent takes competitors on a multi-day race with six stages over a distance of 261 kilometers. WildDescent.com

10th Annual Kona Surf Film Festival, Big Island, Hawaii: Since 2003, the Kona Surf Film Festival (KSFF) has been an exhibition of surf films from around the world, a benefactor of the Big Island Community and beyond, and a grassroots event that has kept the surf cinema stoke alive. Lazy Dog SUP Fest and Race, Key West, Fla.: Certifications, clinics, and seminars galore with some of the best in the biz. The fest includes a few days packed with classes and clinics for instructor certification, safety practices, technique and training, meditation, SUP yoga, and kids. Bridge to Bridge, Middle Harbour, Mosman, NSW, AUS: The first leg of the Reclink Australia National Paddle Series, Sydney Harbour Kayaks will host the Bridge to Bridge, which includes a Short Course race (3.4 km) and a 14km Long Course. Event Page


February 1, 2015
Sound Rowers’ La Conner Race, La Conner, Wash.: The course heads down the Swinomish Channel, west past Goat Island, around “Can C-1″ (the green buoy), and returns to the start. If the weather is foul the course may be altered to a more sheltered area. Hang around after the race for some good eats and company at the Shelter Bay Clubhouse. Event Page

Hal Rosoff Classic, Newport Aquatic Center, Newport Beach, Calif.: An annual event in the flat waters of Newport Harbor with short and long courses. Long course is open to all paddle craft, with all proceeds benefitting the NAC Juniors Program. Event Page

Forster Island Paddle Festival, Forster, New South Wales, AUS: Eight SUP events of various distances, including 200-meter sprints and relays, as well as individual races up to 10- and 12-kilometers long. This is a great event for paddlers of all skill levels! Event Page

The Great Eastern Beach Paddle, Eastern Beach, Geelong, Victoria, AUS: The second event of the Reclink Australia National Paddle Series features a 6km race to Limeburner’s Point, across to Cunningham Pier and back. Demos will be available with sponsor giveaways throughout the day. Event Page

February 21-22, 2015
12 Towers Open SUP Race, Kirra Point, Gold Coast, AUS: The fourth annual 12 towers 14km race will be held once again February 21st in Gold Coast Australia. Racers will start from the world famous Kirra Point, pass 12 Lifeguard Surveillance Towers (hence the race name), round the floatable buoy 150 meters from Burleigh Beach then it’ll be a sprint to the dry sand finish line. The Great Peninsula Paddle, Sorrento Pier, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, AUS: Designed for the novice paddler, hobbyist or families, the short course is a leisurely 3.6km paddle from the Sorrento Pier to Portsea with the finishing line located on the Portsea beach, just down from the iconic Portsea Hotel. The Great Peninsula Paddle allows participants the opportunity to paddle along the stunning Mornington Peninsula shoreline, gaining an exclusive paddler’s perspective of the Peninsula’s clear blue waters and white sandy beaches. Lanakila Classic, Carpet Beach, Redondo Beach, Calif.: Part of the SoCal Ocean Racing Series, the Lanakila Classic is an annual event, offering multiple races. Compete in a 5-mile short course, or the 9-mile long course and get your kids on the water with the mini course! Event Page

11th Annual Cold Hands Paddle, Cabrillo Beach, San Pedro, Calif.: The 11th Annual Cold Hands Paddle is a 4-mile course at the historic Port of Los Angeles, Cabrillo Beach and is free to the public. The event includes divisions for paddleboards and SUP’s, but dory boats, surf ski’s, kayaks, and OC’s are welcome to participate as well. Indian Creek Paddle Showdown, Miami, Fla.: Paddlesports racing, Miami style! 6th Annual Punta Sayulita Longboard & SUP Classic, Punta Sayulita, Mexico: A fun event in Mexico’s quaint Punta Sayulita for standup paddlers and surfers. Compete in longboard or SUP surf contests, then race SUP in either the short course or long distance races. There will also be pre-race and post-race activities as well as an awards show. Beach ‘N Boards Fest, Cocoa Beach, Fla.: Four days of friendly competition in SUP, surfing, skateboarding, kite surfing, beach volleyball and more. There will be SUP demos and an expo, as well as an Elite race. Pro paddler Rob Rojas will host a technique clinic on Saturday and the 7-mile Elite race will be held Sunday. Surftech Shootout at The Lane, Steamer Lane, Santa Cruz, Calif.: The annual event is back with a new addition to the two days of racing, the Cowells SUP Classic paddle surf contest. The event will feature the highly anticipated Shootout, with some of the best paddlers in the world competing for thousands of dollars in prizes. Other races at the event include the 2.7-mile short course race, which finishes with a beach sprint, as well as the long distance race, which takes the paddlers on the same course as the short course with the addition of 3.7 miles after the beach sprint. Australian Flatwater SUPFest, Penrith Regatta Centre, Penrith, New South Wales, AUS: The second annual event features 200-, 1000- and 5,000-meter races. All events are open to paddlers of all skill levels, with no pre-qualifying requirements. All paddlers will have at least two races in each sprint (200m and 1000m), with the 5,000m being a staged race start. Board class is 14-foot. Event Page

St. Patty’s Paddle Weekend 2015, Clermont, Fla: The Shamrock SUP is a perfect opportunity for parents and groms to pair up and take their skills to the water. Doggie Paddle, Long Beach Peninsula, Calif.: Aloha SUP presents the 4th annual DOGGIE PADDLE fun relay race, at 68th Place on the Pennisula in Long Beach, CA. Come out and SUP for the pups, as the event fundraises for dog rescue. Seaside Slide, Seaside State Beach, Monteray, Calif.: The 17th annual race is put on by Kings Paddles Sports. Starting at Seaside State Beach the course follows the kelp line North to Moonlight Beach- Encinitas. Once paddlers reach the buoy and turn around they will decide in the moment whether to stay closer to the calm kelp bed or more towards the outside, a more difficult but more direct route. The decision will depend on the seconds of distance between paddlers. Event Page

Stand-Up For Clean Water, Paradise Cove, Malibu, Calif.: LA Waterkeeper’s 4th annual Stand-Up For Clean Water race will be held in the beautiful Paradise Cove in Malibu, Calif., with all proceeds from the race benefitting LA Waterkeeper’s mission to protect and restore the Santa Monica Bay, San Pedro Bay and adjacent waters. Standup For the Cure, Newport Beach, Calif.: Paddle Newport’s Back Bay with friends and cancer survivors to spread awareness and raise money for breast cancer.
