12th Annual Duke’s OceanFest Goes Off in Waikiki

Each summer the Duke’s Oceanfest is held on the beaches of Waikiki, on Oahu’s south shore. Athletes and ocean enthusiasts come together for a week of friendly competition to celebrate the memory of one of Hawaii’s most well-known watermen, Duke Kahanamoku.

The week of ocean events included surf contests, surf polo games, a rough water swim, outrigger and SUP races, and more. Mo Freitas won the SUP sprints, earning himself a spot in the Ultimate SUP Showdown, where SUP Awards‘ 2012 Top Male and Female paddlers, Connor Baxter and Candice Appleby, paddled to victories. Andrea Moller and Livio Menelau also took home big wins in the highly-competitive Hawaii Kai downwinder. Check out the photos and results below.
