10th Anniversary SEA Paddle NYC Gallery & Recap

10th Anniversary SEA Paddle NYC Gallery & Recap

While most of the SUP world took to the West Coast for the Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge last weekend, the 10th annual SEA Paddle NYC charity race took to the Big Apple in its best form yet. This year’s event—a 25-mile race hosted by the Surfers’ Environmental Alliance and boasting a $30,000 prize purse—raised money for environmental preservation and nonprofits dealing with autism. There were both Prone and SUP divisions, and elite paddlers like Kai Lenny and Seychelle Hattingh showed up for a crack at the $8,500 first-place prize.

“(I’m) stoked I finally got to do (the SEA Paddle) as it feels so amazing to be paddling for a cause that raises awareness and money for autism and the environment! I can see this race becoming a major event on everyone’s race calendar in the future,” said first-place SUP finisher, Lenny. “The cause is incredible, the event is five stars, the prize money is top notch and the winners (men & women) receive Tag Heuer time pieces!”
