The Butterfly Effect Makes Waves Around The World

The Butterfly Effect World Tour landed in new locations this year and had a splashing success.
From Maui to the Dominican Republic to Morocco, and from Switzerland to Italy (with one remaining BE Tahiti Trip in October), the Butterfly Effect has been bringing women to the water in all corners of the world.

Local and visiting women gathered at the different Butterfly Effect events, standup paddling, windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing, kayaking, and practicing SUP yoga. The waterwomen unite their individual athletic abilities to celebrate their accomplishments as an empowered group on the water. Over the course of each event, many other females become inspired to get out on the water and try some of the sports for the first time. Each event not only includes water activities, but also includes beach cleanups, safety, yoga, wind sport instruction, community give back sessions, and a welcoming “Aloha” speech by BE Founder, Tatiana Howard, as well as Hawaiian surprises from Tatiana, a luau, gear giveaways, music, and unique cultural gifts from local sponsors.

“The Butterfly Effect is a wonderful community event, which has grown tremendously since its humble beginnings,” said Maui’s Mayor Alan Arakawa. “Organizers did an incredible job making sure everyone was safe in the water and we look forward to an even bigger and better event in the future.”

This year, in true BE style, the BE World Tour raised $8,000 for the Dominican Republic’s DREAM Foundation, collected over 100 bags of trash off the beach at multiple events, and brought more than 350 women to the water at the Maui event alone.

“DREAM is especially honored to be part of this great community and global effort to empower women through sport. Many of DREAM’s programs are centered around leveling the playing field for girls and young women in school and life. We believe that the Butterfly Effect is a perfect reflection of those efforts,” said Jonathan Wunderlich, Director of Development for DREAM project.
