The Weekend Primer: A Fun Father’s Day Weekend Ahead

Father’s Day Weekend is looking like another fun one. Grab your old man, board and paddle and head out to one of these great events:

Bend Paddleboard Challenge
River Bend Park, Bend, Oregon
Friday, June 15 – Sunday, June 16
Head to Bend for the Paddleboard Challenge, held during the Subaru Outside Games. There will be demos and clinics on Friday, followed by racing and more on Saturday. Competitors can race the 5-mile long course, 1.5-mile short course and in the 400-meter elimination sprints.

Space Coast Paddle Blast
Cocoa Beach, FL
Saturday, June 16 – Sunday, June 17
A two-day event for prone and standup paddlers with $8,000 in prize money. Events include an elite race, 2-mile short course and buoy sprints.

Boston Tea Paddle
Boston, MA
Saturday, June 16 – Sunday, June 17+
Paddle and raise money for Journey Forward, a non-profit benefitting those with spinal cord injuries. Events include elite, open, and distances races as well as sprints, a distance race and kids race. There will be board demos and paddle clinics, so hardcore racers, weekend warriors, kids and newbies are all welcome to join the fun.

Saturday, June 16
The first event in a series of 3 at Jordanelle Reservoir this summer. There will be a bunch of races including two 12’6 races (Elite and Open), a SUP surfboard fun race, youth fun races and a co-ed tandem race, so bring the entire family.

Tahoe Nalu Thunderbird Run
Lake Tahoe, CA
Saturday, June 16
Race an 8-mile loop along the spectacular North East Coast of Lake Tahoe in Sand Harbor State Park and bring the groms to race the 2-mile race for kids under 12. SUP and prone paddling classes will be held after the races.

Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation Paddle For A Cause
Golden Nugget Marina, Atlantic City, NJ
Fundraise and race 22.5 miles for the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation. Fundraisers/competitors must raise at least $200 for race entry and will race around Absecon Island. Prizes will be awarded to the highest fundraiser and race winners. After the race, the fun continues with a silent auction, after party, cash bar and live music.

La Roootaaa Regataaa Race 3
Blue Marlin Fish House, Miami, FL
Saturday, June 16
An 8.4-mile race for elite paddlers and 4.2 miles for recreational paddlers down Maule Lake and Oleta River, beginning and ending at Blue Marlin Fish House with a barbecue to top off the day. Competitors must be at least 18 to participate.

Rock 2 Rock
Catalina to San Pedro, CA
Sunday, June 17
This annual event is back again for another great year with some slight change in course. Competitors race a grueling 22.17 miles from the west side of the pier at Isthmus, Catalina to Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro. Relays and solo competitors welcome for SUP and prone paddleboards.
