Athletes to watch out for at upcoming World Series stops
Amongst those to watch out for at the upcoming high-profile stops on the 2013 Standup World Series:
• Connor Baxter is currently leading the World Rankings ahead of archrival Kai Lenny, and is seemingly unbeatable this year, looking to maintain this lead through the US Trilogy and onto the Finals. However, he has a target on his back and this makes him the man to beat.
• Kai Lenny is a man on a mission. Currently trailing Connor Baxter in the ratings, he will be looking for a solid win here in Germany to keep himself in contention for the World Title.
• Casper Steinfath will be looking to continue his great 2013 roll. Currently in 3rd place overall in the rankings, it’s all to play for the young Viking, and he’s in a great position for the European Trilogy Title.
• Eric Terrien is always dangerous and has been consistently placing at the top of the fleet. He will be looking for a strong finish in Germany to better his overall positing in the rankings.
• Gaeten Sene is on a roll after a great performance at the last stop in Spain and is a powerful contender in the inland water conditions found in Hamburg.
• The Aussies are coming: Beau O’Brien and Paul Jackson will be looking to put on another powerful performance in Hamburg as they proudly represent Australia on the international stage. Jake Jensen, another strong contender, will join them in Chicago.
• Others to watch out for are of course Zane Schweitzer, Mo Freitas and Noa Ginella from Hawaii, Leonard Nika from Italy, Fernando Stalla and Ryan Helm from Mexico, and Dylan Frick from South Africa. It is also reported that Danny Ching may be attending the America’s Cup in San Francisco, so stay tuned as we build up to an epic three weeks of racing here on the Standup World Series.

Women Competition to intensify over the coming month
While Annabel Anderson has a clear stronghold over the World Rankings after the initial events of 2013, as we come into Stop 5 on the 2013 World Series and final leg of the European Trilogy, the competition is clearly intensifying as we see a whole host of women from Europe, the US and Australia, stepping up to give her a run for her money.
At home in Gemany, Sonja Honscheid is sure to be a real threat, as is Olivia Piana from France, not to mention Manca Notar, Laura Quetglas, but also the ever strong Aussie, Angela Jackson, looking to make her presence felt over the next few events.
As we head back to the US for Chicago, San Francisco and Huntington Beach, expect some big upsets by the likes of Morgan Hoesterey, Candice Appleby and many more of the US’ leading female paddlers
