Big Swell Predicted for Tahiti World Tour Stop

Things could get interesting on the Standup World Tour in the coming week for the Sapinus Pro presented by Air Tahiti. Early next week a mammoth south swell is expected to slam into the island and bring Sapinus–a beach break that looks like a mini Teahupoo-roaring to life (12 feet at 19 seconds). This means spectacular big surf for the assembled athletes and spectacular viewing for fans following the contest. What’s more, the swell direction anticipated is ideal for Sapinus and should provide even better conditions than last year.

The Champion from last year’s event here in Tahiti, Australia’s Dave Muir will be looking to defend his Title and will certainly be happy about the news of the big surf that is forecast – this is definitely where he excels. World Champion Kai Lenny from Hawaii will be looking to make it three wins in a row on the 2011 Stand Up World Tour. However both these incredible athletes will have their work cut out with the extent of international talent that is now congregated in the beautful island chain found deep in the South Pacific. – Courtesy Tristan Boxford
