Standup World Tour Title Race Heats Up
Caio Vaz and Kai Lenny are both still in the hunt for the Standup World Tour title as the La Torche Pro France moved through Round Four today. It is likely that we will see a champion crowned tomorrow as we move into the quarterfinals and beyond.
As we mentioned in our pre-event analysis, Vaz needs to beat Lenny by one spot to take the title. At the pointy end of this competition, neither is going to have an easy time of it.
Lenny has the futuristic, high-tempo surfing of Airton Cozzolino to deal with in the quarters while Vaz must contend with another high-performance bar-setter in Zane Schweitzer. And with Mo Freitas, Sean Poynter, Leco Salazar and Kody Kerbox as potential semi-final and final match-ups, anything could happen. The call will be at 8 a.m. in France, which is 12 a.m. PST (midnight tonight). Considering the conditions in the video above and what’s on the line, it might not be a bad idea.
