The 2012 Paddle Surfing Championships kicks off Oct. 12 at the world class break, C Street, in Ventura, Calif. Competitors will have the opportunity to compete in an Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) format contest with lots on the line.
The weekend of Oct. 12th will be a busy one at C Street with 32 paddlesurfers competing for awards and prestige in one of the last paddle surfing contests of the year. Divisions include an open division as well as multiple age divisions and a women’s division. The ASP format will follow the ASP rules, including a repercharge round to ensure that every competitor surfs in at least two heats of the open division. ASP-certified judges will award points to each of the competitors’ waves, and scores will be based on the best two or three waves, contingent on the conditions. The top four competitors in every division will be awarded and each age division must have a minimum of four competitors to run.
