National Charity League Juniors Launch Inaugural SUP Challenge

The South Coast Chapter of the National Charity League (NCL) Juniors presents MAKING WAVES, the group’s inaugural standup paddling challenge, on Sunday, September 22, at United States Sailing Center, 5489 E. Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90803. The event will feature a 2.8-mile paddleboard race around Naples Island for adult participants, as well as a 2.8-mile fun race and a buoy race for kids of all ages.

Races begin at 9 a.m., followed by door prize drawings, and lunch provided by Super Mex. The cost is $25 per adult and kids are free, with proceeds benefiting Long Beach’s Precious Lamb Preschool, a preschool for children of families suffering from homelessness. Most families include single mothers with one to two children living in shelters or transitional programs. NCL Juniors will help the families this Christmas by shopping for each child and parent.

MAKING WAVES is one of the many fundraising activities NCL Juniors organize each year to benefit local charities. Additional events include Making Strides 5K Walk, Uncorked Wine Event and our upcoming NCLJ Poinsettia Drive.

The NCL Juniors is a philanthropic group comprised of women from Seal Beach, Long Beach and surrounding communities who are committed to making a difference in their immediate community.
The group’s goal is to support local philanthropies through fundraising and volunteer work.

In addition to the Precious Lamb Preschool, NCL Juniors support many other organizations, such as CASA Youth Shelter, Tracy High School, We Care, Child Abuse Service Team in Orange County (CAST), and Breast Cancer Angels.
