Paddle For Recovery Series Coming This Summer

Paddle For Recovery Series Coming This Summer

Paddler Casi Rynkowski is hosting a free paddling series this summer called Paddle for Recovery.  It is a SUP class for recovering cancer survivors and will take place on June 24th at The Kayak Center of Rhode Island in Wickford, Rhode Island.

The classes will be running throughout the New England area.  Her goal is to introduce SUP to cancer survivors so they can use paddling and being outdoors as part of their recovery, because Mother Nature does help heal.

“I have decided to donate my time and resources because I have way too many friends battling this disease and I wanted to make an immediate impact on their lives,” said Rynkowski. “My ultimate goal is for Paddle for Recovery to spread, have more businesses jump on board and have existing hosting businesses keep the program alive and run it on their own.  The great outdoors has not only been my home for cross training but my go to for personal healing both mentally and physically.”

BIC SUP has donated boards, a truck and additional gear for these event.  Dana Farber and Boston Cancer Support are helping to spread the word.  New England paddle businesses have donated their launch locations and will be helping to host the events.

About Paddle for Recovery

It’s no secret that Mother Nature can help heal.  Just step outside after a stressful day and you immediately start to feel relief.  Add in movement or exercise and the benefits grow. New studies have shown that outdoor activity can aid in recovery from disease, reduce stress, increase concentration, and improve your overall health and well-being.  If you can enjoy these benefits while burning calories and building muscle, then that is what the doctor ordered.

Paddle for Recovery is a totally free SUP class for recovering cancer patients and their ever-so-important caretakers. My mission with this program is to provide an opportunity to escape on the water and maybe even find a new passion that can assist in recovery. There are no gimmicks – it's just FREE. All equipment and instruction is provided.

Registration is required.  Limited spots available.  To register, email Casi Rynkowski or visit this website and fill out a contact form.
