SUWS: The European Cup Continues to Finland
After two exciting stops in Spain and then France, the European Cup is now well underway and the action is only intensifying. With Maui’s Zane Schweitzer currently leading the Men’s Cup and a tie in the women’s division, tension is mounting as we look ahead to the forthcoming events.
Next up is the Sieravuori SUP Masters in Finland, scheduled for today, Thursday, July 3rd to Saturday, the 5th. The uniqueness of the location is already stunning, but this coupled with racing at night will make it an event to remember, as the World Challenger Series and the European Cup heads north.
After the Sieravouri SUP Masters, the European Cup and Standup World Series heads to Fehmarn Germany for Stop 3, the Camp David World Cup of SUP. With a new location this year, and a prize purse boasting $25,000, all eyes will be on Fehmarn from July 18th – 20th as we watch Maui’s Connor Baxter and Australia’s Angie Jackson try to maintain their ratings leads amidst the ever increasing competition.
The final stop of the European Cup will see athletes head back south to the outskirts of Rome, Italy. Santa Severa Beach and its well established Surf Expo will play host to the $10,000 fifth and final stop of the 2014 European Cup. An anticipated 30,000 people will pass through this event over the weekend and a festive atmosphere will celebrate the close of what has already been a phenomenal run of events on the European Cup.
