The Ganges River is one one of the most revered bodies of water in the world. Every few years Hindus from around India gather along its banks and wash in its waters for the Kumbh Mela, the largest human gathering on earth. The event drew an estimated 100 million pilgrims in 2013.
We sent Ryan Salm and crew to the festival and then on to the Ganges itself for a trip from Allahabad to Varanasi, a distance of about 130 miles. Salm returned with a great story, video and pictures for our 2013 Gear Guide. And this Sunday, March 22, you can finally catch the Los Angeles premiere of the film, titled “Kharma Bums.” If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a watch.
