OluKai Ho’laule’a Postponed Due to Weather

If the weather were normal for this time of year, we’d be sitting in Maliko Gulch with hundreds of excited racers, battering down the butterflies in our stomachs, warming up our twitching muscles and getting pumped to race in the 2017 OluKai Ho’olaule’a. Instead, we’re in our hotel room, watching the rain pour from the sky and drum on the palm fronds. It’s biblical. And when it rains hard here on the north shore of Maui, Maliko Gulch turns into a giant mud pit, with a stream pouring forth mass amounts of sediment into the water. That, and the wind is almost exactly the wrong direction for the Maliko run. And so, organizers have postponed the race until tomorrow morning with the hopes that things turn around. Check out the statement from OluKai below. Don’t just pray for wind, pray for it to let up.
