This weekend is packed with great events, so we hope you’re geared up. California’s coast features a couple, there’s a sweet festival about to kick off in Noosa and some of SUP’s best athletes are camped out down in Sayulita for two days of races and that’s not all…

3rd Annual Punta Sayulita Longboard & Standup Classic
Friday, March 9 – Sunday, March 11

The 3rd Annual Punta Sayulita Longboard & Standup Classic promotes a classic mainland Mexican town. Competition categories include:
Elite SUP Race- 4 laps around 1-mile offshore course
10km “Punta to Punta” Distance Race
2.2km Sayulita Fun Race
Kids SUP Fun Relay Race
The Classic Fiesta is open to the public and tickets may be purchased at the door. Proceeds raised from the Classic will be donated to the local Sayulita chapter of the Reef Check Foundation and the Punta Sayulita Foundation.

Mickey Munoz’s Mongoose Cup
Saturday, March 10

Paddle with surfing legend Mickey Munoz and friends. The Mongoose Cup starts with the Fun Paddle around the island in Dana Point Harbor. The Waterman Expo and SUP Clinics will be held throughout the day and include exhibitors from the SUP and surf industries, clinics on paddling and training techniques, board repair, adventure travel, racing skills and SUP yoga and fitness. After the BBQ lunch participants will be organized into “Luck of the Draw” relay teams that will race for the Mongoose Cup. All event participants’ names are dropped in a bucket and each Elite Mongoose Cup Safety Paddler will be required to pick from the bucket names of three paddlers to complete their 4-person teams. To be eligible for the Mongoose Cup teams must race 12’6” & under SUP boards. All registered participants will receive a Mongoose Cup long sleeve t-shirt and BBQ lunch.

Bluerush Spring Race Series #1
Saturday, March 10

The Bluerush Spring Race Series kicks off this weekend in Sausalito’s Clipper Yacht Harbor with 2- and 4-mile races. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. with the race start scheduled for 10 a.m., rain or shine. Divisions include Men’s, Women’s, Masters and Menehune (6-12), with Stock (12’6 and under) Unlimited (12’6-14’) and Open (racer’s choice board) board classes. Hang around after the races for a BBQ and good times.

Blast Paddlers Summer Series Race #5 – Iron Cove
Sunday, March 11

Iron Cove is the fifth event in a series of six in NSW. Each event, including Iron Cove, holds three individual races for SUP, surf skis, outriggers and kayaks. Race distances include 2.5km, 5km and 10 km, with standup paddlers racing on the two shorter courses. Recognized SUP classes for male and female include surf (12.2’ and under), 12’6, and 14’. If you’re a newbie to SUP or a veteran racer, Iron Cove is a guaranteed good time.

Noosa Festival of Surfing
Saturday, March 10 – Saturday, March 17

If you’re near Noosa, this is a weeklong event that you need to check out. The SUP events begin with the popular Battle of the Paddle style race, to be held just before the festival’s Opening Ceremony on Sunday, March 11. SUP surfing events will follow in the early part of the week, concluding on Tuesday, March 13, with most of Australia’s leading SUP surfers competing.
