Late last year we featured Michele Baldwin on SUPthemag.com, a stage 4 cervical cancer patient who paddled 700 miles down the Ganges. For nearly a month, Baldwin paddled, surfed and meditated on the holy river, while also focusing on raising awareness for the disease that is slowly taking her life.

The waterman world lost an icon Wednesday, Jan. 4, as legendary surfer/shaper, Harold “Iggy” Ige, passed away in the waters off of Lanikai, Oahu, presumably from a heart attack, while testing unlimited SUP prototypes with Randy Naish (older brother of Robby). Surfing America recently announced its team to compete in the International Surfing Association’s (ISA) 2012 Stand Up Paddle and Paddleboard World Championships, Feb. 20-25 in Miraflores (Lima, Peru).
