2014 La Torche Pro Highlights

2014 La Torche Pro Highlights

The 2014 Standup World Tour came to a close yesterday, October 29, at La Torche Pro France, in one of the most exciting final events on the Tour to-date. With the Men’s World Title up for the taking, spectators saw Maui’s Kai Lenny and Brazil’s Caio Vaz battle for high scores in the race to be crowned 2014 World Champion. After an impressive performance in the quarter finals where Lenny received the highest scoring wave of the day, he was named the 2014 Men’s World Champion, making it his fourth world title. But, after Lenny was knocked out of the event in the semi-finals, it came down to a battle for the La Torche Pro title, with California’s Sean Poynter paddle surfing to victory over 2012 World Champion Leco Salazar of Brazil.

On the ladies’ side, 2014 World Champion Izzi Gomez worked toward another event win, battling with local favorite, Caroline Angibaud of France, as well as fellow American Sophia Tiare Bartlow. In the end, the young Gomez impressed judges once again with a strong performance that led her to her fourth event win of the 2014 Tour.
