In 2014 filmer and producer Brent Deal put together a movie featuring some of the world’s most beloved SUP surfers sliding around on waves in Mexico. The film, aptly titled “H2MexicO” (yes, it is a bold pun) was the fruit of Deal’s labor and with it he won Movie of the Year at the 2014 SUP Awards. The edit was comprised of so many great clips, spotlighting so many graceful waves and so much talent that some A-grade clips slipped through the cracks and never made the final cut. Three years later, we bring you the lost files.
This session featuring Dave Boehne of Infinity SUP noseriding with beautiful style somewhere in Mexico was also responsible for producing a cover shot for our Spring 2014 issue. Fun fact: the board Boehne rides here was hand-shaped by his father—the legendary shaper and founder of Infinity SUP. The board is 10′ x 28″, and since polyurathane blanks are only made up to 27″ wide, he improvised by cutting a blank down the middle and adding an inch-wide foam strip to the center, sandwiched by two stringers. The Boehne’s sure are a creative bunch.
