New Battle of the Paddle Course Explored By Drone

It was some of, if not the biggest news in the race world over the last year: the 2014 Battle of the Paddle—standup paddling’s most prestigious race—will be held at Salt Creek instead of Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California.

This announcement came with an explosion of comments from the worldwide SUP community about the venue, ranging from the size and power of the waves to the course to the walk from the parking lot down to the beach. Regardless of your feelings about it, it’s happening. Rainbow released the various course maps recently and it looks like things will be interesting to say the least.

In this video SUP athletes and personalities such as Byron Kurt, Chuck Patterson, Colin McPhillips and Taylor Rambo test out the beautiful venue and give you a taste of what to expect at this year’s BOP.
