The South Island of New Zealand should be at the top of any standup enthusiast’s bucket list. There are majestic lakes for flat water paddling, plenty of storms for endless surf potential and rugged rivers for whitewater adventures all in a high-relief, verdant green landscape. There is nothing quite like it.

This little edit of Scott Palmer and Sam Lee doing a hike-in, SUP-out whitewater run on the East Branch of the Matukituki River reminded us of just how paradisaical the South Island is.
