Paddlers tend to be a fit group of people. The sport requires a full-range of muscles, balance, coordination and mental tenacity to be successful. But then there are those athletes who are always looking to push their limits and conquer something few people have done before. The Paddle Run Paddle is that type of event.
This March, 80 paddlers grabbed their SUPs or prone boards and paddled 22 miles across open ocean from Palos Verdes to Catalina Island. Then, since that wasn’t hard enough, they ran a marathon the next day before finally paddling home on the third day. Why you may ask? To support Callie’s Cause and raise money for the pediatric epilepsy. This recap takes us along for their incredible—and tiring—journey.
