10th Annual SEA Paddle NYC Preview
A decade ago, organizers created a standup paddling event in New York City that would not only be a unique way to tour the city, but more importantly would raise money for a great cause.
Fast-forward to 2016 and the SEA Paddle NYC has grown into one of the nation’s premier fundraising and paddling events – raising over $2.35 million dollars for environmental conservation and autism-related non-profits. Not to mention, it won a SUP Award in 2013 for Top Philanthropic Effort.
This coming weekend – August 19 and 20 – represents the 10th running of the SEA Paddle NYC and it’s expected to be the biggest one yet. This year’s 25-mile race around Manhattan from the Brooklyn Bridge to Chelsea Piers Marina boasts the largest prize purse in event history – a cool $30,000.
With Kai Lenny and several other elite paddlers expected to compete, it’s sure to be great time in the Big Apple.
