Tutorial | Paddling Out Through Surf

For beginning SUP surfers, the toughest challenge of all is simply making it out to the lineup. You can’t duck dive or turtle, which makes even the smallest of waves impassable if you don’t know what you’re doing.

To cut through the confusion, we partnered up with San Francisco-based paddler and videographer Clay Schmitz (aka Clay Island) to help explain the process. In this tutorial, Schmitz demonstrates the necessary steps and techniques you will need to make it past the whitewash, no matter the size.
