After Surf Expo wraps up in Orlando, throngs of paddlers will head south for one of the first big events of the year, the Orange Bowl Paddle Championships. Three courses are offered in Sunday's urban race that takes paddlers through downtown Miami, Biscayne Bay and the Miami River.
SUP yoga will help competitors get focused and relaxed before the racing begins, with a free class led by yogi Dashama Gordon. The 7–mile Elite Race kicks off the races with some of the best paddlers in the world committed to competing, including Candice Appleby and Danny Ching. The 3-mile Recreational Race and Sprint Race will follow, with an awards ceremony wrapping up the day's events. Proceeds from the event will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami.
