The Ala Wai Canal and Community Park in Honolulu, Hawaii will get some SUP action this weekend with the 2nd annual World Paddle Expo (WPE) on Sunday, Oct. 2nd.  It’s all about paddling, featuring some of the best water athletes in the world.

Sports included in the WPE are SUP and prone paddleboard, kayak, one-man outrigger (OC1), va'a (V1) and surf ski. Divisions included in the event are Bantam (14 & under), Junior (15-18), Open and Elite, with men's and women's categories in each.

Competitors will sprint down the Ala Wai Canal for 200 meters in heats that will run throughout the day. Elite racers will be competing for $5,000 in cash prizes, donated by the Friends of Hawaii Charities, while other divisions will compete for non-monetary awards.
