News | Whitewater Park Under Construction in Bend, Oregon

As if Bend, Oregon, wasn’t already a natural wonderland for whitewater paddlers, the community is taking its beloved recreational activity a stroke further with the all-new, state-of-the-art Bend Whitewater Park, located in the heart of Bend on the Deschutes River. The park will consist of three designated channels—the “floaters” channel for the casual paddler, a whitewater channel for more advanced enthusiasts and a natural habitat channel for fish and wildlife, which will remain closed to the public (humans, anyway) so as not to disrupt the preexisting natural habitat. The park runs beneath the Colorado Avenue Bridge—alongside McKay Park, a new public recreational space also under construction—and will feature four standing waves/rapids engineered for varying degrees of difficulty. Bend Whitewater Park will remain closed through winter of 2016, so enjoy this sneak-peak from a bird’s eye view and start planing your Pacific Northwest vacation now!
