Huntington Beach Pro Grand Slam sees world class action
The Huntington Beach Pro Grand Slam presented by Starboard saw unprecedented performances from the world’s best athletes in both surfing and racing, as athletes from over 20 nations congregated in Surf City, USA for a historic event just south of the Pier.

In the surfing, Kai Lenny took the win, ahead of the Brazilian phenomenon, Caio Vaz, with third place finishers Sean Poynter and Mo Freitas right behind them. This has only intensified the title race, as Kai remains in the lead, Caio in second, Kody Kerbox in third and Sean Poynter in fourth.

In the Racing, Kai took control in the sprint racing to secure the win, while in the long distance, a second place secured his win overall at this crucial stop on the 2013 World Series. In second, was Jake Jensen who put on a stellar performance to take the win in one of the most competitive long distances yet, while in third, it was Casper Steinfath from Denmark, with another consistent performance.
In the women’s fleet, the teenage sensation Izzi Gomez managed to steal the show in the surfing, with Candice Appleby in second, and Caroline Angibaud from France and Vanina Walsh tying for equal third.

Meanwhile in the Racing, it was Ke’ale Dorries and Hallie Harrison who battle it out and had to share the win, with a first place in sprints and long distance respectively, leaving the French all-around paddler, Caroline Angibaud in third.

Up next: the Standup World Series Finals at Turtle Bay
The time has come for the Standup World Series to return home to Oahu’s fabled North Shore for the climactic close to the 2013 season. It has been an incredible year for the Standup World Series, as we have seen events in all four corners of the world, and a dramatically competitive racing season that has all led to this: the Final battle of the year, as Turtle Bay provides the perfect arena for a World Class showdown of epic proportions.

The Sprint course that has defined this event, held right in front of Hang Ten Pool Bar at Turtle Bay, provides the most spectacular, fast paced racing in the world, as the heat format delivers a dynamic spectacle for viewers both on site and online, and one of the most intense challenges imaginable for the athletes.

The long distance race from Turtle Bay to Ali’i Beach Park in Haleiwa takes in the seven-mile miracle that is the North Shore of Oahu, highlighting the World famous surf breaks that it has become famous for. As the longest Long distance on the World Series calendar (13 miles), this race has it all, from downwind runs, to flat spots, to a flurry of surf through to the finish.

Up next on the World Tour: the La Torche Pro France
After an epic stop in Surf City USA, the Standup World Tour will pick back up again from October 26th through November 3rd in La Torche, Brittany, in the North West corner of France. The Title Race is intensifying after one of the most fiercely competitive events yet on the Standup World Tour in Huntington Beach, as Kai Lenny leads, followed by Caio Vaz, Kody Kerbox, and Sean Poynter.

Now in its third consecutive year, La Torche has become a home to the Standup World Tour in Europe, as its long sandy beaches and exposed coastline provide the perfect backdrop to Stop 4 of the 2013 Standup World Tour.

We will also be running a World Series ‘Specialty Race’ this year, running on the last weekend of the holding period and linking the beautiful town of Quimper to where the river meets the ocean in Ste Marine. While it doesn’t count for points, it does provide a fitting close to what will be another epic event in La Torche.
