APP World Tour | SUP’s Big Leagues Head Japan for The 2017 Japan Pro-Am

The Japan Pro-Am is Stop No. 3 on the 2017 APP World Tour and the second racing event of the season as the world's very best standup paddle racers will meet with the very best Japan has to offer in the beautiful coastal town of Enoshima, in the Kanagawa prefecture right outside Tokyo from May 5 through 7. The entire APP World Tour Japan Pro-Am, presented by Hawaiian Airlines, will be broadcasted LIVE at

Taking place during Japan's Golden Week holiday, Enoshima will be a hive of activity as the APP World Tour comes to town to showcase the best of the best on its World Championship Tour. Unique to Japan this year, and due to local restrictions for this venue given the timing and that it is the first year in this new venue, there will be a prestigious field of Japanese athletes that will be invited to step up for battle with the world's best men and women, coordinated by the Local Japanese Committee and the JSO (the Japanese Industry Association). Wild card slots are to be decided by April 5th, with the final list of contenders to be released the same day, a month before the event. All athletes interested in taking part should email Prize-money will remain consistent with APP World Tour standards, with the $45k dedicated to the World Championship Tour purse for both men and women. Similarly, the event will feature the standard two days of racing, with the Long Distance race to take place on Saturday May 6 and Sprint Racing on Sunday, May 7. Please see the schedule below.


The event will consist of two different days of Racing and an Opening Day. Here is the schedule:

Friday 10th March

  • 10am: Press Conference: Shinjuku, Tokyo
  • 2:30pm: Athlete Meeting, Enoshima: final location tbd
  • 4pm: Nation's Parade and Opening Ceremony at Enoshima Beach

Saturday 11th March:

  • 9am – 10am: Athlete Check in
  • 10am:
    • APP World Tour village opens with traditional Hawaiian entertainment
    • Open Board demo zone opens
  • 10:30am: Briefing for Long Distance Race
  • 11am: Long Distance Race Women start
  • 12:30am: Entertainment set
  • 1pm: Long Distance Race Men start
  • 2:30pm: Entertainment set
  • 3:30pm:
    • Open Board demo zone closes
    • Long Distance Awards
  • 7pm: Maui TV Show screening: location tbd.

Sunday 12th March:

  • 9am – 10am: Athlete Check in
  • 10am:
    • APP World Tour village opens with traditional Hawaiian entertainment
    • Open Board demo zone opens
  • 10:30am: Athlete Briefing for APP World Tour Sprints:
  • 11am: Sprint Eliminations begin for both Men & Women
  • 12:30pm: Entertainment set
  • 2pm: Final Series for both Men & Women

  • 3pm: Sprint & Overall Awards presentation & entertainment
