The APP World Tour has the SUP world buzzing.
The four-stop tour — which will also visit New York City, San Francisco and Paris — is set to kick-off this weekend with the London SUP Open. The racing action will take place along the historic Thames River, culminating at the Houses of Parliament. According to event organizers, the pro field will be stacked with top paddlers including Connor Baxter, Kai Lenny, Izzy Gomez, Casper Steinfath, Michael Booth, Danny Ching, Mo Freitas, Candice Appleby and many others.
“There's going to be so many guys here that are world class and it's going to be a fantastic show,” said Booth. “Thanks to the APP for putting the sport of SUP racing on the map. Racing down the Thames is something I never dreamed of doing and to be racing here on Saturday is really fantastic."
In addition to pro racing, the London event will also feature races for everyday paddlers including amateur races, youth races and even a parent and child relay race. Not to mention, the APP will also have an array of activities for those new to the sport.
While big names like Lenny and Baxter will be going head-to-head in the Thames, fans will be treated to the City Paddle Festival. The Royal Docks will serve as the home for the festival where live bands, food carts, yoga, board demos. beginner clinics, youth clinics and a retail village will keep people busy all day long.
While there has been no official word about a live broadcast of the racing, below is the schedule of events for this weekend. Check back with SUP Magazine next week for a recap of the action.
