Boardworks announced this morning that Hawaiian Mo Freitas was signed to their team.
At the ripe young age of 20, the SUP surfing and racing standout has plenty of room to grow. Freitas has a slew of big wins in elite competitions like the Pacific Paddle Games, the APP World Tour and the ISA World Championships attached to his name. He will start the 2018 season with new equipment from Boardworks under his feet.
"There are few athletes in the paddlesports scene that are as versatile and promising as Mo," says Rick Karr, Boardworks general manager. "He is that grounded athlete that we are proud to welcome to the Boardworks family."
After earning a world title in Technical Racing at this year’s ISA World SUP Championships, claiming fourth in the ISA World SUP Surfing event and taking the overall surfing/racing title on the APP World Tour, among other top-finishes, Freitas has already cemented his reputation as one of the most well-rounded talents in standup paddling. Outside the competition he’s pushing the frontier of progressive free SUP surfing as one of the few standup paddlers to take on critical waves at breaks like Pipeline and Jaws. With a new line of equipment from one of the industry’s leading manufacturers under his feet the future is looking bright.
