Halloween is just around the corner and we’re loving the fact that paddlers are getting in the spirit of spooking while SUPing. This year there are even more events to help you get your haunt on while also getting in good water time with friends and family. Check out some of the spooktacular SUP events being held in honor of Hallow’s Eve.

Ocean Extreme Halloween Blast 2012
Thursday, October 25 – Sunday, October 28
St. Augustine, FL
Four days of kiteboarding and SUP shenanigans in historic St. Augustine. The four days will include multiple contests, races, demos, clinics and parties, as well as meet and greets with professional athletes from each sport. In the Halloween spirit, the third of three parties over the four days will be a costume party, so don't forget to dress up and bring your dancing shoes.

2nd Annual SUPer Scary SUP Race
Saturday, October 27
SUP Safaris, St. Folly Beach, SC
Get in the Halloween spirit this Saturday with SUP Safaris. Elite and recreational races offered, as well as kids and dog races. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each racing division; paddlers and dogs with costumes are eligible to win additional prizes. Proceeds from the event will benefit Pet Helpers and Emerson Rose Heart Foundation.

Paddle for Privates
Saturday, October 27
Newport Dunes, Newport Beach, CA
Join the fight for "private part" cancers by paddling around Newport Harbor in costume with friends and family. The paddle is a non-competitive costume parade with all paddle crafts welcome. Paddlers will parade through the Back Bay from Newport Dunes into Newport Harbor, stopping at Genoa Park on Lido Island for a lunch break before paddling back to the Dunes. Post-parade activities include SUP jousting, a beach party festival with live music, dancing and drinks, an expo and costume/fundraising awards. A limited number of boards and paddles will be available to borrow on a first come, first served basis.

Fall Paddle Festival

Dress up in your Halloween costume and hit the water for an 8-mile elite race, a 3-mile fun course or relay races. Multiple racing classes included with an awards party, raffle and lunch to follow. Pre-registration only.

Surf n Sea Full Moon Halloween Paddle

Haleiwa, Oahu, HI
Paddle the Anahulu under a full moon for a spooky tour. Throw on your costume, grab an SUP or kayak and get stoked on Halloween in Haleiwa. $40 registration includes use of an SUP or kayak, a glow stick, pupus and a Halloween candy bag or $20 if you have your own paddle craft.

4th Annual Halloween Costume Paddle
Sunday, October 28
Lady Bird Lake, Austin, TX
Get out to Lady Bird Lake for a spooktacular Sunday paddle in costume. All paddle crafts are welcome and spectators can join the fun from the MoPac Pedestrian Bridge or surrounding trail. The paddle will head out from the docks across from Austin H.S.'s baseball fields around 2 p.m., paddling toward the UT Rowing dock and Auditorium shores before paddling back to the dock. Join the paddle anywhere along the way for a spooky time.

Pre-Halloween Second Sunday Paddle

Huntington Harbor, Huntington Beach, CA
Dress up or don't for an hour-long guided paddle through Surf City's harbor. Boards and paddles will be provided with pre-paddle instruction for the newbies. The group will meet at the beach just past the bridge on Trinidad Island and tour the harbor before returning back to the launch site.

1st Annual Halloween Costume Paddle Parade

David Lam Park, Vancouver, BC
Break out your scariest costume and start a new tradition on False Creek at the 1st Annual Costume Paddle Parade. Paddle with pals from David Lam Park toward Granville Island or watch the spectacle from the sea wall before drinking and dining at the Hurricane Grill for more Halloween madness. Reserve boards and paddles prior to the event by emailing and don't forget your PFD, they're mandatory.
