San Clemente, Calif.— The wait is over. SUP magazine is happy to announce the secret location for the “Find the Glide” contest, presented by SIC Maui. One lucky winner, to be announced on October 1, will win an SIC Bullet and a three-night, three-day adventure for two with SoloSports Adventure Holidays at Punta San Carlos, Baja, Mexico.

“We have some of the best windsurfing and kiting conditions in the world for waveriding here,” says Kevin Trejo, owner of SoloSports in PSC. “The coast turns to the WNW where our camp is so the prevailing NW winds are perfectly side shore for miles and miles on a pristine and remote coast. The area looks to be perfect for downwinding.”

PSC, located 275 miles south of the San Diego/Tijuana border is a remote desert outpost on the Pacific side of Baja. Large mesas meet the coast there, creating windy conditions 12 months a year with consistent 15-30 knot winds. That translates to beautiful—and virgin—downwind runs (The area has yet to be discovered by downwind paddlers—think first descents). Trejo and crew will provide upwind shuttles and paddlers can run downwind back to town, pioneering the area with each glide. Then drive upwind and do it again.

“We are excited about this new discovery down at Punta San Carlos for down winding and the adventure that lies ahead,” says Braly Joy, SIC marketing manager. “It is always fun to discover new places to paddle but to do it with the SIC team and SUP mag is going to be amazing. We can’t wait to explore this new glide zone.”

If by chance the wind is down, chances are there will be waves, including beachbreaks and pointbreaks that “go for hundreds and hundreds of yards.” The area is exposed to both northern and southern hemisphere swells, making for great paddle surfing. And, if you have the energy, there’s world-class mountain biking too.

“El Campo” SoloSports’ headquarters provides everything you need for a high-class camping experience from a cliff side ocean view, full bar, home-cooked local food, local knowledge and the ocean to lull you to sleep at night.
