2017 Top Expedition: The SUP Crossing
PADDLER: Chris Bertish
Early on the morning of March 9, South African waterman Chris Bertish completed a historic SUP expedition that redefined the realm of what's possible on a standup paddleboard. After 93 days and more than 4,000 miles alone at sea, 42-year-old Bertish became the first man to SUP across the Atlantic Ocean—solo and unassisted from Morocco to Antigua. #TheSUPCrossing, as Bertish dubbed it, brought international media attention to the sport of SUP and expanded the realm of possibility for paddlers the world over.
