Last summer, photographer Matt Hage and his fellow adventurers Alex Stoy and Andrew Muse embarked on a standup paddle expedition of the Kenai River through Alaska's remote Kenai Peninsula.
Putting in at Kenai Lake, the large glacier-fed body of water that forms the river’s headwaters, the duo’s journey led them through 80 unobstructed miles of Alaskan backcountry, across Skilak Lake and out into Cook Inlet near the town of Kenai.
Along the way they encountered miles of playful wave trains, myriad wildlife and next to no humans. Travel with them on a dream expedition through remote Alaska in this gallery from their experience.
