Lignano | Italy’s SUP Oasis

Italy is well known for its delicious cuisine, priceless art galleries and luxurious sports cars. But once passed all of that, you will find that Italy is home to a SUP playground unlike anywhere else. While Venice is the well-known SUP destination in Italy, the summer resort town of Lignano Sabbiadoro may actually be even more paddle-friendly.

Located only 65 miles northeast of Venice on the Adriatic Sea, both Lignano residents and tourists embrace paddling as a way to explore the gorgeous environment that surrounds the town. Not only is there a scenic river and lagoon, but unlike Venice, there are also waves in Lignano which make it a perfect spot for SUP surfing. It doesn’t matter what you do on a SUP, Lignano has it all and should be on every paddler’s bucket list.
