Professional river SUP aficionado Dan Gavere’s career path has been anything but conventional. His occupational trajectory—from growing up on the rivers around his hometown of Salt Lake City to trying out for the US freestyle kayaking team to pioneering the sport of standup paddling on whitewater—is about as improvisational as the lines he draws on the river. But bottom line: the guy is making it in life by prioritizing his passion. And for all the little kids out there still deciding what they want to be when they grow up, his story is an inspiration.
