Discovery Channel’s Shark Week may have just ended, but the action is picking up for standup paddlers at the SoCal SUP hot spot at the south end of San Onofre State Beach. On Tuesday, Dana Point’s Chuck Patterson got this chilling footage of what lurks beneath.

The do-everything Team Hobie standup paddler reported in an e-mail that, “I went for a paddle today at San’0 and took my GOPRO HD camera mounted on a 10-foot pole to see if I could finally get a photo of this 7′ juvenile Great White and sure enough five minutes later there he was. Pretty humbling but beautiful. His name is ‘Jessy James.’ I think it’s time to wear a leash. LOL.”
