SUP Whale Watching
California’s Monterey Bay is known for its plethora of marine life. Because the area is protected as a National Marine Sanctuary that spans 4,601 square nautical miles of ocean, it’s not uncommon to come across some sea creatures if you’re cruising the cool waters of Central California. Local paddler Brent Allen can testify to that, as he spent time whale watching from his SUP during a recent paddle session. “Having the mist from a whale’s spout come across the board was all time,” Allen wrote of his experience. We won’t beg to differ.
