Video | Australian SUP Titles | Geraldon

Last week Surfing Australia and Surfing WA brought the 2016 Toyota Australian SUP Titles to the shores of Geraldton, Western Australia. The event incorporates the disciplines of Standup Paddleboard Surfing, Standup Paddleboard and Prone Technical and Marathon Racing at Geraldton located on the beautiful Batavia Coast north of Perth. The area is home to pristine beaches and a warm, windy climate, which makes it a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts. The consistent summer winds make for ideal SUP conditions while the winter waves turn the ocean into a surfer’s paradise. And this year, the competition was fierce. When the dust settled, it was Standup World Tour contenders Kai Bates and Shakira Westdorp who took the Australian surf title in pumping waves, while the rising powerhouse James Casey a NSW dynamite woman Vanneesa Smith took first in the technical race among a hotly contested local scene.
